Wear&Care

At Gleglow, we believe in not just helping you look great but also ensuring that your lenses keep you feeling comfortable and healthy. Proper care is key to maintaining the longevity of your lenses and ensuring the health of your eyes. Below, we’ve put together some simple, easy-to-follow tips for wearing and caring for your contact lenses.

How to Wear Your Gleglow Lenses

  1. Wash Your Hands:
Before handling your lenses, always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Dry them with a clean, lint-free towel to avoid any dirt or bacteria transferring to your lenses.

  2. Prepare Your Lenses:
Carefully remove one lens from its case and place it on the tip of your finger. Make sure the lens is not inside out—if the edges flare outward, it’s reversed. When the edges curve smoothly, the lens is in the correct position.

  3. Insert the Lens:

    • Look Up: Using the hand of the opposite eye, gently pull up your upper eyelid.
    • Pull Down Your Lower Eyelid: With the middle finger of the same hand holding the lens, use your other hand to pull down your lower eyelid.
    • Place the Lens: Gently place the lens on the white part of your eye and look straight ahead. Slowly release your eyelids and blink a few times to position the lens comfortably.
  4. Repeat for the Other Eye:
Follow the same process to insert your other lens, ensuring that you don’t mix up the left and right lenses.

  5. Comfort Check:
After inserting both lenses, take a moment to check for any discomfort. If something feels off, remove the lens and rinse it with fresh contact lens solution before re-inserting.

How to Remove Your Gleglow Lenses

  1. Wash Your Hands:
Just like when inserting your lenses, always wash and dry your hands before removing your lenses.

  2. Gently Pull Down Your Lower Eyelid:
Look up and use your middle finger to pull down your lower eyelid while using your other hand to hold your upper eyelid open.

  3. Pinch the Lens:
Use the thumb and index finger of the same hand to gently pinch the lens. Avoid pinching too hard, as this could damage the lens or cause discomfort.

  4. Remove the Lens:
Carefully lift the lens off your eye. If it sticks to your eye, you can blink a few times or apply some sterile saline solution to help loosen it.

  5. Store the Lenses Properly:
Place the lenses in their case and fill it with fresh, sterile contact lens solution to keep them clean and moist.

Proper Care and Maintenance

  1. Clean and Disinfect Your Lenses:
After each use, it’s crucial to clean and disinfect your lenses with a contact lens solution. Never use tap water, saliva, or any other liquid that isn’t specifically designed for contact lenses. Gently rub the lens with your fingers to remove any debris before storing it in its case.

  2. Change Your Lens Case Regularly:
Replace your contact lens case every three months to avoid contamination. Always clean the case with solution (never water) and allow it to air dry when not in use.

  3. Never Sleep in Your Lenses (Unless Approved):
Most lenses are not designed to be worn overnight, unless specifically labeled as overnight or extended wear lenses. Sleeping in lenses can reduce oxygen flow to your eyes and lead to irritation or infections.

  4. Follow the Replacement Schedule:
It’s important to replace your lenses according to the recommended schedule—whether daily, bi-weekly, or monthly. Never wear lenses longer than recommended, as this can cause discomfort and increase the risk of eye health issues.

  5. Avoid Water Exposure:
Keep your lenses away from water, including swimming pools, lakes, and even the shower. Water can introduce bacteria into your lenses, leading to infections and eye irritation.

  6. Keep Your Lenses Hydrated:
If your lenses feel dry during the day, use a lens-safe rewetting drop to hydrate them. Never use regular eye drops that aren’t formulated for contact lenses.

Additional Tips for Comfort & Health

  • Never Share Lenses:
Sharing lenses, even for a short time, is a bad idea. It can lead to eye infections and other complications. Always wear your own lenses.

  • Know When to Replace Lenses:
If your lenses are torn, discolored, or you notice discomfort that doesn’t go away after a few minutes, replace them immediately. Never try to fix or reuse damaged lenses.

  • Visit Your Eye Care Professional Regularly:
Regular check-ups with your optometrist are essential for maintaining the health of your eyes and ensuring your prescription is up to date.
